Meet Captain Mike and Huntress

Captain Mike’s biography describes Gulf fishing experience dating to 1989, a captain’s license in 1992 and ownership of Huntress from 2004. The boat was built locally in Fort Walton Beach.

Huntress has an air-conditioned cabin and a restroom. Its six-person limit suits a family or a small group that wants a cabin boat without sharing the trip with strangers. Departure is behind AJ’s on Destin Harbor, not from a beach launch.

Deciding how long to fish

The website’s main offerings cover four- to twelve-hour trips, with longer options also discussed on its trip pages. Four hours generally means choosing one main style of fishing. Six hours gives more room for a combination, while eight to twelve hours allows a farther run and more stops.

Bottom-fishing targets include snapper, grouper, amberjack, triggerfish, scamp and other reef fish. Trolling can target king mackerel, blackfin tuna, mahi mahi and wahoo. Seasonal cobia sight fishing is another possibility. Ask what is realistic for the date you are visiting rather than choosing a trip from a catch photo alone.

What the crew provides

Dead bait, tackle, fishing licenses and ice are included. The crew cleans and bags legal fish after the trip. Bring your own meals and drinks, plus sun protection and clothing for the conditions.

The operator asks guests to avoid glass containers. Keep a cooler ready for the drive home if you hope to take cleaned fish with you. A first-time angler can ask the crew for help with the tackle, while an experienced group can discuss a more specific fishing plan in advance.

Reservations and cancellation terms

Call either published number or use the operator’s booking page to check a date. Ask for the current rate for your chosen duration, any extra bait costs and the expected mate gratuity. A public booking link does not mean every date or length is available.

The posted cancellation policy allows cancellation without a penalty more than 14 days before the trip. Within that window, the full trip price may be charged unless the slot is rebooked. Confirm the exact deadline and weather terms in your reservation.

Tell Captain Mike whether your priority is a short family outing, trying different techniques or spending most of the day offshore. That decision is more useful than simply asking for the biggest fish.

Details checked October 1, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
