First Light and Nothin’ Matters are two boats marketed together by one Destin charter operation. Keeping the fleet together makes it easier to compare capacity and price without treating each boat as a separate business.

The captains and passenger limits

The company describes Captain Tyler as a lifelong Destin angler who began fishing at five, and Captain Hunter as another captain raised around the local waters. The crew cleans and bags retained fish when the boat returns to the dock.

The FAQ lists First Light for up to ten passengers and Nothin’ Matters for up to six. Those totals include non-fishing passengers. Overnight descriptions mention an air-conditioned cabin on First Light; confirm sleeping arrangements and the overnight passenger allowance when discussing an extended trip.

Trips and published examples

First Light's published rates include a four-hour shark trip at $1,200, six-hour offshore trips at $1,800 from August through May or $1,950 in June and July, and eight-hour trips at $2,400 or $2,600 in those summer months. Four- and five-hour offshore options are marked off-season only.

Nothin’ Matters lists a four-hour shark trip at $1,100, six hours offshore at $1,650 and eight hours at $2,200. Longer offerings include 12- and 16-hour trips; First Light also lists 24-hour and multi-day options. Get a date-specific quote and confirm how your passenger count affects the total.

The overnight description combines daytime trolling for fish such as marlin, tuna, mahi-mahi and sailfish with nighttime swordfish fishing. This is a different commitment from a family half-day charter and should be planned with the captain.

Inclusions and booking conditions

The operator says licenses and fishing equipment are supplied and asks guests to bring food, drinks and gratuity. The FAQ lists a 20% booking deposit, with the balance after the trip, and describes 20% as the customary crew tip.

Its published cancellation schedule allows a full refund at least 24 hours ahead, a 20% penalty between 12 and 23 hours, and full payment at 12 hours or less. It also lists refunds for bad weather, rough water and boat/captain malfunction. Confirm these terms with your booking, including who makes the weather decision.

Meeting the boat

The dock is at 210 Harbor Boulevard behind Brotula's. The FAQ lists morning departures at 6 a.m. and afternoon departures between noon and 3 p.m., with arrival ten minutes early. Wear comfortable clothing and rubber-soled footwear; the operator asks guests not to wear boots. Verify your actual departure time and boat on the confirmation.

Details checked September 26, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
