Chris Adams' style of guiding

Chris welcomes fly anglers and guests using spinning tackle. He describes enjoying the search for visible fish and the wildlife of the backcountry. His trips can involve mangrove shorelines, channel edges and clear seagrass flats.

Bonefish, permit and tarpon are the three main targets on his rate page. These fish can be demanding even with good guidance. Chris prefers a full day because the extra hours allow him to use changes in tide and sunlight instead of forcing the whole plan into a narrow window.

The skiff and provided tackle

The Hell's Bay Biscayne has a bow casting platform arranged for fly and light tackle fishing. The passenger allowance is two clients plus the guide. Larger groups can be divided between additional boats with other licensed captains.

The supplied fly equipment includes Sage rods and Tibor reels. Custom spinning rods, flies, leaders and locally tied jigs are also provided. Fishing license coverage, drinking water, a cooler, ice, sunscreen and digital photos are listed in the package. Personal rods are welcome if you prefer them.

Rates and seasonal departure areas

A full day of eight or more hours is posted at $850. A six-hour partial day is $650. Each rate covers two anglers. Shorter or evening plans can be discussed when travel arrangements make a standard trip difficult.

May and June tarpon bookings can take Chris to the Upper Keys, from Key Largo through Tavernier and Islamorada. Biscayne Bay remains the main service area for other plans. Clarify the actual region before reserving a hotel or assuming that a Miami meeting point applies during those tarpon dates.

Deposits and preparing to cast

A $200 deposit is due within seven days of booking. The remaining amount can be paid through Venmo, PayPal or cash. Customer cancellations at least seven days before departure receive the deposit back; later cancellations lose it. Chris refunds the deposit if he cancels for unsafe weather.

Bring polarized glasses, a hat, rain gear and lunch or snacks. Avoid black-soled shoes that mark the boat. Tell Chris where you are staying so he can choose a launch with the tide, wind and route in mind. Practicing accurate casts before a flats trip can help you make the most of the opportunities he finds.
