A guide with long local ties
Captain Jim says he began guiding in 1989. His biography also describes service as a member and past president of the Homosassa Guide Association. The operation is built around guided trips with him rather than a large fleet of party boats.
The published target list includes redfish, trout, snook, cobia, tarpon, Spanish mackerel, flounder, tripletail and gag grouper. Those fish occupy different water and appear under different conditions. Tell Jim the kind of fishing you prefer so he can suggest an appropriate outing.

Two listed boats
Trips use either a custom Proline Flatback with a 175-horsepower Mercury Pro XS or a 16-foot Silver King Signature Series skiff with a 115-horsepower Mercury Pro XS. Ask which boat fits your date, group and target fish.
A small skiff and a larger Flatback do not provide identical space or comfort. Discuss the number of passengers, mobility needs, shade and storage before arriving. The booking page does not state one passenger limit that clearly covers both boats.
Rates for inshore, tarpon and grouper
The published inshore base rate is $600 for one or two anglers, with $100 for an additional angler. A half day is listed at $450. Tarpon trips are listed at $750.
Nearshore grouper fishing in state waters is also listed at $750 for one or two anglers, with $100 for an additional guest. The page does not clearly specify the hours for every category. Confirm the length, boat and group size attached to your quote. These rates can change without notice.
Supplied gear and personal items
The operator provides rods, reels, tackle, fishing-license coverage, ice and water. Bring the food and other drinks you want, plus a rain jacket, hat and polarized sunglasses. Captain Jim specifically asks for nonspray sunscreen.
If you hope to take fish home, ask about the cleaning arrangement and how to transport the catch. The fish you may keep depend on current rules as well as what bites during the trip.
Planning the reservation
A 50% deposit is required. The booking page mentions a 30-day cancellation fee but does not explain the amount or every condition. Have Jim spell out that policy and the weather arrangements before sending payment.
Request the exact launch, parking instructions and meeting time directly. Homosassa covers a wider fishing area than a single waterfront address, and the right departure point can depend on the boat and the plan for the day.
Details checked October 1, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
