Michael Cowart and redfish fishing
Michael grew up wade fishing for redfish with his father. His biography describes winning a junior redfish tournament division at age 12. Redfish remain a major interest, alongside trout, flounder, sheepshead, sharks and seasonal tarpon.
The guide fishes bays, marshes, backwaters and bayous, with more open coastal options too. Tell him if the group's priority is steady family fishing, a particular target or learning a technique. He also offers guiding on a customer's own boat by arrangement.

The Majek and equipment
The boat page lists a 2020 Majek Xtreme 25 with a Mercury Verado 350. Power-Poles, a trolling motor, electronics, a livewell and an ice box are among the advertised features. The maximum is four guests.
Daiwa tackle, bait or lures as appropriate, water, fishing license coverage and legal-catch cleaning are included. Fly anglers are asked to bring their own fly equipment. The FAQ describes shore stops for bathroom needs rather than a confirmed onboard toilet.
Current trip page versus older FAQ rates
The dedicated trip page lists four-hour bay fishing at $700, five-hour nearshore at $850 and six-hour nearshore at $1,000. Its two-hour children's trip is $400. Rates there cover two people, with $50 per additional guest. Extra time is posted at $75 an hour.
The FAQ still shows lower figures, so request Michael's current quote instead of choosing the cheaper copy automatically. June and July tarpon options are listed at $1,000 for six hours or $1,400 for eight. Eligible veterans, service members, first responders and their families can ask about the advertised 10 percent discount.
Arrival and booking arrangements
The children's trip is described with a 2 p.m. start and stays near the marina in shallow water. Many longer trips list a 7 a.m. departure. Confirm the time, slip and parking at Bayshore Drive for your reservation.
Bring snacks, extra drinks, sunglasses, a hat and suitable layers. Michael makes weather decisions close enough to departure to use the forecast. Obtain the deposit and refund rules before paying, and mention young children so lifejackets can be arranged. Larger groups need advance coordination across additional guides rather than extra passengers on the Majek.
Details checked October 10, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
