About Captain Brian

Mathey grew up fishing local flats and obtained his captain's license in 2005. His biography describes years balancing firefighting with guiding before focusing on the charter business. He emphasizes patience with children and beginners alongside his tournament-fishing background.

Boat and group size

The published vessel is a custom Xplor x24 Andros, a 24-foot bay boat with a half tower, T-top shade, trolling motor, livewells and shallow-water anchors. The operator accepts up to six guests but states that four is preferred. Discuss space and fishing expectations for larger parties.

Fishing rates

Inshore trips targeting snook, redfish and trout are listed at $600 for four hours, $800 for six and $1,000 for eight, including two guests. Extra guests cost $50 each. Seasonal tarpon trips are listed at $900 for six hours and $1,200 for eight, again with two guests included.

What guests receive

Fishing licenses, bait, tackle, rods, reels, a cooler and ice are included. Ordinary inshore outings also include catch cleaning and bagging. Guests bring food, drinks in non-glass containers, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Confirm the tarpon season and the plan for the particular date.

Deposit and cancellation terms

A $100 deposit is required. The FAQ says deposits are refundable when canceled more than ten days ahead, while cancellation within 72 hours may incur the full trip price. Ask how the intervening period is handled. If the captain cancels for severe weather, the published policy refunds the deposit.

Details checked September 27, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
