Lawrence Piper and the boat

Piper has guided since 2007 after a career running a local telecommunications business. He fishes the rivers, creeks and marshes west of Amelia Island rather than offering a routine deep-sea outing.

His boat is a 2003 Angler Grande Bay with a 2022 Yamaha 200. It has high sides, a broad fishing platform and an iPilot trolling motor with Spot-Lock. Piper describes three fishing guests as ideal, with a fourth possible but more crowded.

A typical backwater session

After a safety introduction and short run, the captain demonstrates the rig and gives guests time to practice casting. He works along shoreline cover while anglers present shrimp or other bait. Artificial-lure anglers can request a different approach in advance.

Redfish, seatrout, flounder, sheepshead and black drum are regular interests. Jacks, ladyfish and other species also occur. His reports show how the chosen bait, route and water level change from one outing to the next.

Prices and supplies

Four-hour fishing trips are $450 and six-hour trips $650 for up to three guests. A fourth person adds $50 whether fishing or not. The fishing-trip maximum is four, so do not arrive with an unannounced fifth guest.

Bait, tackle, rods, reels, licenses, life jackets and iced water are supplied. Bring a hat, sunglasses and anything else agreed with Piper. A separate two-hour sightseeing trip is listed at $225 and has different passenger arrangements.

Payment and meeting plans

No deposit is required under the published policy. Cash, check, Venmo or Zelle is preferred after the trip. Piper requests prompt notice of cancellation so he has a chance to refill the date.

Keep a reachable phone number available the evening before departure. The meeting ramp depends on the fishing plan, so confirm it directly instead of choosing one from an earlier fishing report.

Details checked October 9, 2026, using the operator’s published information. Rates, boats, meeting points and policies can change; confirm the final trip details directly. Listed species describe possible targets, not a guaranteed catch or an open harvest season.
